We hold what we need to keep a table for you and to run the restaurant properly. We do not sell it, we do not share it for advertising, and we do not track you around the internet. If you want it gone, write to us and it goes.

When you book a table we keep your name, telephone number, email address if you give one, the day and sitting, how many of you there are, and anything you tell us about the occasion or about what you cannot eat. We need it to hold the table, to reach you if something changes, and to have the right thing ready when you sit down.

When you ask about an event — a private room, the terrace to yourselves, a set menu for a party — we keep the same sort of thing, plus roughly what you had in mind to spend if you tell us. It stays on the enquiry and nowhere else until we agree to take the event on.

If you join the waiting list for a full day, we keep your name and how to reach you so we can tell you if a table comes free.

Once we have agreed to have you — a booking we confirmed, or an event we took on — you get an entry in our guest book. It is put together from your bookings rather than kept as a second copy: how many times you have eaten here, what you were celebrating, and any note a host has written to help us look after you better next time.

An enquiry nobody has answered yet puts you in nothing. That is deliberate: until somebody here has said yes, your details sit on the enquiry alone.

The people who work here, and only as much as their job needs — a host working the door sees the book for tonight; the notes and the contact details are a manager's business. Every look at a guest's record and every change to it is logged with the name of whoever did it.

Nobody outside the restaurant sees it. We do not pass it to anybody for marketing, and there is no advertising network anywhere near this site.

Bookings stay in the book, because the restaurant needs its own history — how busy a Saturday in December runs, and how many covers a year makes. Your name and how to reach you do not need to stay with them for ever, and are removed on request.

Ask us to remove you and we overwrite every personal detail on your bookings and delete the notes against your name. What is left is a booking for four people on a Tuesday with nobody attached to it, which is a number and not a person.

A copy of what we hold about you. A correction, if we have written something down wrong. Removal, as above. And to be left alone — we do not run a mailing list, but if that ever changes you will be asked first and can say no without it affecting your booking.
